Because of the incredible partnership of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Association of Kansas (LOMAK) and Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor MInistries (NLOM), the 2009 Tomah Shinga Summer Ministry Team will be hired, trained and coordinated by NLOM. The staff member will be employed by NLOM and deployed to do ministry at Tomah Shinga.

As a part of the NLOM Summer Ministry Team, each staff member will spend 10 days in an intensive training program that teaches them the skills that they need to lead, mentor, teach, serve, oversee, discipline and evangelize. As camp counselors and program specialists, they are equipped to empower others to use their gifts and to serve.

The task requires a spirit of power, a sense of wonder, a willingness to be surprised by God and the desire to serve. The task also requires a humble spirit, the ability to be still and listen to God, self-discipline to stretch beyond their comfort zone and the deep desire to be a role model. Being on the NLOM Summer Ministry Team changes the way they think, work, interact with friends, worship, pray and serve in a very positive way.

The summer staff of NLOM are among the best in the nation. The leadership and resources available to the summer staff are second-to-none and offer each summer ministry team member a chance to learn from the best.
